I-710 South – Gerald Desmond Bridge Connector Closes for 2.5 Years

Crews set up a long-term detour on Saturday morning for drivers heading southbound on the I-710 freeway to the Gerald Desmond Bridge. The connector will be closed for two and a half years as part of the ongoing $1.2 billion bridge replacement project. Signs direct drivers to exit at Pico Boulevard and get on the bridge from Ocean Boulevard.

Fisherman Hospitalized

A 50-year-old fisherman was rescued from the waters at Point Fermin and taken to the hospital in grave condition on Saturday morning. He an another man were fishing on the rocks beneath the cliffs before Los Angeles Fire Department responders were called to the scene just before 7 a.m.

New Faces Elected to Coastal San Pedro Neighborhood Council

The Coastal San Pedro Neighborhood Council held its annual election at Crafted at the Port of Los Angeles on Saturday, and the results are in. New to the board are Slobodan Dimitrov, Denise Marovich-Sampson, Sonya Tsujimura and Rachel Waugh. Not returning this year are Vice President Bob Gelfand and Dan Malstrom.
