SPHS Senior Gets Surprise “Promposal”

Photo: Edwin Serrano

A San Pedro High School senior was in for quite the surprise yesterday, when she was asked to the prom via a choreographed “promposal” in front of the entire school.

Jackie Cortez was in Flag Court during lunch when the Pirate Dancers, led by senior Edwin Serrano, broke into a synchronized dance routine to Bruno Mars’ “Just the Way You Are,” complete with dancers handing Cortez a dozen roses and Serrano asking her to the prom via the flipping of signs spelling out “P-R-O-M-?”

Stunned, she said yes.

The best friends are both on the dance team, which managed to keep the whole thing a secret from Cortez while they spent weeks working on it.

The school posted a video of it on its Facebook page.
