Jamie Lynn Spears, the 22-year-old younger sister of pop star Britney Spears, will give a free concert on the USS Iowa on Wednesday, April 2, the Pacific Battleship Center announced.
The former child actress, who starred on Nickelodeon’s Zoey 101, released her first country single, “How Could I Want More” from her forthcoming debut album last year. She’ll be performing the song and others in a 40-minute set on the ship’s fantail.
“We are thrilled that Ms. Spears graciously agreed to perform free at the ship,” said Jonathan Williams, President and CEO of Pacific Battleship Center, in a statement. “She is a unique young artist, and our guests are in for a musical treat.”
The free concert starts at 12 p.m. and is open to the public. The Pacific Battleship Center and Go Country 105 FM are co-hosting the event.
“Go Country 105 is proud to partner with the historic Battleship Iowa along with Jamie Lynn Spears to put on an exciting free concert for our listeners,” station manager Michael Levine said in a statement.
The WWII-era battleship, which recently marked its 71st anniversary, can hold up to 600 guests. The first 105 to arrive at the standing-room-only concert will be given premium audience space and a free barbecue lunch.
“Jamie Lynn and her entire team are very excited about performing on such a historic ship!” In2une Music Nashville senior vice president Cat Collins said in a statement. “We’ve been talking about the show ever since it was confirmed.”
Spears, who married her boyfriend of four years less than two weeks ago in New Orleans, sang on a track on her sister’s most recent album, 2013’s Britney Jean.
