Ponte Vista One Step Closer to Final Approval

Last week, the Planning and Land Use Committee of the Los Angeles City Council brought the proposed Ponte Vista housing development one step closer to getting the green light. The downsized plan, which now features 700 units, walking trails and a 2.4-acre public park along Western Avenue, will go before the full council tomorrow, where it’s expected to get final approval.

Great March for Climate Change Kicks off at the Port of Los Angeles

Councilman Joe Buscaino helped kick off the Great March for Climate Change at Wilmington Waterfront Park on Saturday. Organized by the SoCal Climate Action Coalition 350 and a host of other environmental organizations, the day marked the start of a coast-to-coast march to Washington D.C. calling for action to combat climate change. Dozens of marchers braved the at times heavy rain for a 17.5-mile trek to downtown Los Angeles, where a Climate Action Fair was held.

Boys and Girls Club Has Diesel Bus Crushed, Gets Two New Natural Gas Buses

On Thursday, SA Recycling crushed and shredded a 15,000-pound diesel bus used by the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Los Angeles Harbor to make way for two new natural gas buses. The new buses were provided by an $85,000 grant from the Harbor Community Benefit Foundation and will transport more than 300 students daily.
