San Pedro Man Sentenced for Killing Girlfriend in 2012

A San Pedro man who bludgeoned his girlfriend to death with a hammer in May of 2012, will spend the next 26 years to life in prison, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.
Donald Lee Bush Jr., 55, was found guilty of first-degree murder on Jan. 14, and on Monday, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Tomson Ong sentenced Bush Jr. to 26 years to life in prison.
According to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office, Bush Jr. and then girlfriend Dana Milo, 59, lived together at a boarding house on the 300 block of W 14th Street in San Pedro.
Prosecutors said that on May 23, 2012, around 10 p.m., residents at the home saw Milo watching television in her room, alive. Then around 1:30 a.m., residents saw Bush Jr. leave the room, and the following morning, they found Milo dead inside.
According to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office, investigators found blood and a hammer on the floor in Milo’s room.
Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner’s office said that Milo died from “blunt force trauma to the head by a hammer during a domestic incident.”
Witnesses testified that Bush Jr., had a long history of abusing women.
