Woman Arrested After Allegedly Setting Peck Park Tree on Fire
A woman was taken into custody late Saturday night after she was seen allegedly setting a tree on fire at Peck Park. Fire Station 36 responded to the incident and then called in the arson division of the Los Angeles Fire Department to investigate.

L.A. Opera Performs for Youth at Warner Grand
For the fourth year in a row, LA Opera performed for 1,300 San Pedro and Wilmington schoolchildren at the Warner Grand Theatre on Tuesday. A small cast performed a kid-friendly version of Puccini’s Girl of the Golden West called The Prospector for the students and took their questions.

fINdings Art Center Opens MLK Exhibit
An exhibit of historic photos of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. taken by Harry Adams and prints by Sister Mary Corita Kent opened Wednesday at fINdings Art Center on Sixth Street. Jointly curated by fINdings and the California African American Museum, the Kent & King exhibit was the first of what will be an annual memorial celebration. Councilman Joe Buscaino presented the gallery with a certificate of recognition for the exhibit, which was followed with a discussion with Freedom Riders at the Grand Annex.
