San Pedro Mourns Passing of Debbie Marr
San Pedrans were shocked and saddened last week to learn of the passing of artist Debbie Marr. The award-winning painter and owner of Lazy Dog Studio was known for her stunningly realistic watercolors, including iconic scenes in San Pedro. Marr died Friday morning surrounded by her family after a battle with cancer.

Weymouth Corners Shops Vandalized
Several Weymouth Corners businesses started the new year with a headache after they found their shop windows smashed by unknown vandals early Wednesday morning. Lou’s Flooring, Properties West, Fleur de Lys flower shop and the Assistance League all woke up to broken shop windows in what police are calling a string of incidents that have happened to more than a dozen businesses in the past three weeks. A similar rash of incidents occurred over the summer. No suspects have been arrested.

Motorist Dies in VT Bridge Collision
A 65-year-old Long Beach man was killed on Saturday afternoon after his SUV slammed into a big rig at Navy Way on Terminal Island. The collision caused delays and diverted traffic heading east from the Vincent Thomas Bridge into Long Beach for hours.

Crowds Flock to See Low Tide
Big crowds turned out to see the lowest tides of the year in San Pedro over the weekend. On Saturday, the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium led a presentation and walking tour to the Point Fermin tide pools, where sea urchins, anemones and other marine creatures were on display during the low tide.
