A local real estate developer’s proposal to convert a section of Sixth and Seventh Streets downtown is gaining traction, as he continues to lobby the Los Angeles Department of Transportation officials to create a formal study on the concept.

Going into the 2014 season, the San Pedro High girls volleyball team had a bevy of returning players with no particular hope of competing for a Marine League championship, but they had no idea what they were going to get.

When people talk about high school sports, everyone likes pointing towards football, basketball, baseball and softball, and in many cases, volleyball and soccer as well. Cross-country is normally the last sport many want to talk about, but not in this city full of dedicated, fearless and devoted runners, especially in the realm of girls cross-country.

Car Show by the Sea Returns to Point Fermin on Sunday

For the past 14 years, Point Fermin Park has been home to one of the South Bay’s longest running classic car shows, known affectionately as the Car Show by the Sea.

After 6-Year Hiatus, Tall Ships Festival Returns to Port of L.A.

Since 2008, the Tall Ships Festival L.A. has been absent at the Port of Los Angeles, and this year organizers intend to revive the event with grander plans than previous years, including a Giant Rubber Duck.

The Los Angeles Quilt Show and Fiber Art Festival at CRAFTED is expected to draw 250 to 500 guests this weekend.

From newbies to experts, dozens of quilt design enthusiasts will converge at the first annual Los Angeles Quilt Show and Fiber Art Festival when it begins Friday at CRAFTED at the Port of Los Angeles.
