    San Pedro’s Rita Fiorenza Is A Basketball Revelation

    The San Pedro High girls basketball team suffered its worst season ever in 2010-11, only winning once in 20 games. The program was headed south rapidly and there was no sign of any hope to return to respectability. Suddenly, a change would come in the form of a fabulous freshman guard named Rita Fiorenza. From there, San Pedro girls basketball would never be the same again.

    ‘No Lane Reductions’ As Gaffey Street Redevelopment Plans Move Forward

    More than 150 people were in attendance in the Croatian Culture Center on W. 7th Street to hear the presentation on the conceptual plan made by representatives from Los Angeles Neighborhood Initiative (LANI), RRM Design Group, and Fehr & Peers (transportation consultant).

    LAPD Harbor Division and Philie B’s Pizza To Host Charity Events This Weekend

    This weekend, the Los Angeles Police Department Harbor Division will host its 12th annual Helping Badge Winter Wonderland event for underprivileged LAUSD elementary school students and Philie B’s restaurant in downtown San Pedro, in conjunction with Harbor Interfaith Services (HIS), will host its first Christmas fundraiser benefitting those receiving services at HIS that help them get back on their feet.

San Pedro Holiday Parade Returns Sunday with a Twist

Mark it on your calendar – the 34th Annual Holiday Spirit of San Pedro Parade is this weekend. The festivities begin at 1 p.m. on Sunday, December 7, with a parade of more than 70 units and floats starting at Pacific Avenue and 13th Street. Thousands are expected to attend what has become one of the most beloved traditions of our waterfront district.

Since 2008, the Tall Ships Festival L.A. has been absent at the Port of Los Angeles, and this year organizers intend to revive the event with grander plans than previous years, including a Giant Rubber Duck.
